Butterfly Valves

BTV butterfly valves, designed, manufactured, and serviced by TB Hydro, are intended for emergency shut-off under full water flow in hydroelectric power applications.

Installation length and connections are according to EN/ASME standards or individual requirements. Other applications and media are available upon request. Triple-eccentric butterfly valves are also available upon request.

Diameter:

Wide range of diameters from 200 to 4000 mm.

Pressure

Pressure range from 6 to 200 bar.

Butterfly Valves design

Body

The body with flanges is a single-piece unit, either welded from plates and forgings or cast. The sealing surface is typically a stainless steel welded insert, or optionally a replaceable, bolted version.

Disc

Optimized to reduce the loss coefficient and ensure the tightness of the butterfly valve. The disk is typically manufactured as a welded assembly from plates and forgings, or optionally as a casting.

Depending on the valve type, the disk can be:

type BTV: Flat disk
type BTV-B: Box-type disk
type BTV-B-M: Double disk with an inspection seal

Main Seal

A special NBR profile (70-85 ShA hardness, depending on operating conditions) is placed in the disk and secured by a stainless steel clamping ring, which allows for adjustable clamping force. Depending on the diameter, the clamping ring is manufactured either as a single piece or from segments.

It's possible to replace the seal without the need to remove the valve from the pipeline.

Other seal types and materials are available upon request.

Maintenance Seal

An additional stainless steel ring is attached to the disk. A sliding ring, hydraulically actuated (by water pressure), is built into the body.

Shafts

Stainless steel shafts are rigidly connected to the disk using pins or bolted with tensioned screws; in such cases, torque is transmitted via sleeves. The shafts are supported in the body by maintenance-free, self-lubricating bearings. A double sealing system is employed: an internal seal protects the bearings from contamination by the flowing medium, and an external seal ensures tightness if the inner seal is damaged. The space between the seals is equipped with a control leakage port.

Actuator

The actuator can be:

Single-sided, mounted from either side, or double-sided.

Standard configurations include:

A counterweight for closing and a single-acting hydraulic cylinder for opening. The direction of the counterweight's descent is adjustable.

Double-acting hydraulic or water cylinder
Hydro-oil cylinder (water for closing, oil for opening)
Electric actuator with worm gear
Manual actuator with worm gear
